An evening with the Chilean writer Carmen Rodriguez at Valparaíso Restaurant, Liverpool

Saturday 19th October at 7:00pm
Valparaíso Restaurant
4 Hardman St. Liverpool L1 9AX

After the coup in Chile which deposed the elected President, Salvador Allende, Carmen, her husband and daughters fled to Canada where they now live.

We are fortunate to have Carmen Rodríguez , an award-winning poet, short story writer and novelist, in Liverpool  at the start of her UK tour, before she moves on to London and Sheffield.
Carmen will be talking about her novel, Retribution, and about writing and society.  Francisco Carrasco from One Latin Culture has kindly agreed to accompany her on the guitar.
Writer Antonio Skarmeta described Retribution as “a love-laden novel that cuts through the pain of a country” and Carmen herself as “a sensitive and skilful narrator who knows how to tell a Chilean story and to turn it into one which will also captivate international readers”.
We, at Valparaíso Restaurante, are offering a delicious set menu for this special evening.
To book your place and for more information about the menu and the evening, please email [email protected]com or phone 015 708 6036.
We hope to see you on Saturday 19th!
Julio and Anne
